Stories from East Africa

26-year-old Irene Mitema from Dar es Salaam, which is the capital of Tanzania, will visit Denmark the last week of February. She is going to travel across the country and together with a representative from FIC talk about the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Irene started her own business with help from one of FIC’s youth partnership organisations called Open Mind Tanzania (OMT). Now she is working within the organisation, where she helps other young people with business techniques such as how to write business plans, develop marketing strategies and pay taxes.

During her stay in Denmark, Irene is going to talk about youth culture in Tanzania and what the possibilities are to create and obtain decent work in Tanzania as a woman.

This project is supported by funding from EU and is a cooperation with the CISU grant FRAME, VOICE, REPORT!, which objective is to strengthen awareness and engagement among EU citizens in relation to the Global Goals.

We are looking forward to the visit!
